About Chantal

My mission is to elevate the well-being of our community through education, inspiration and care, one personal relationship at a time.

What’s my story?

I was born and raised in a small town in Eastern Ontario. As a kid, I was surprised to see my dad, an avid gardener, grow fruits and vegetables from seed. Who knew you could do that!

The funny thing is that as adults, we seem to lose that sense of wonder:

  • We adopt a survival mindset and disconnect from our creative force.

  • Our free-flowing dance gets stifled. Our song gets muted and we start to see life through dull colours.

  • We start dimming our light and play small. We strive but never fully arrive.

  • The body, our humble servant, begins to show signs of dis-ease.

Perhaps you can relate. That was me in a nutshell. Numbing feelings with food led to severe food intolerances, anxiety, depression and obesity. I slowly embarked on my healing journey. The fog started to lift and my senses awakened. I found a new zest for life and a purpose.

I made it my mission to learn about the importance of food nutritionally, socially and culturally. I also gradually lost 117 pounds in the process. I ran my first half marathon in 2017.

I also started to explore my fun and creative side. I never thought I would be writing a children’s book. But, life is interesting that way…

Fun facts about me…

  • I affectionately call myself a science geek. I love biology and chemistry. I love math but it’s an unrequited love - sigh.

  • I live in an apartment and I grow food. My balcony is my gardening oasis. The kitchen is my gastronomy lab where I experiment and make flavours come alive. I like to eat dulse.

  • I stood on two continents at the same time in one country. Gotta love those tectonic plates!

  • My place of peace is anywhere in nature. I love to bask in the grounding wisdom of trees.

  • I want to run a half marathon in every Canadian province and territory. So far, I’ve done one in Ontario and one on Prince-Edward Island.

  • I love disco!
